Aunjanue E. Taylor Aunjanue E. Taylor, an American producer and actor, is known for playing in the film Ray Undercover Brother as well as on The Mentalist. She earned the B.A. with a major in African-American Studies, from Brown University. Her MFA is in acting from Tisch School at New York University. Aunjanue is an American actor, producer and director who has worked in both film and television. Aunjanue L. Ellis began acting in the theatre. Later, she appeared in television shows in independent as well as mainstream films. She became famous as Miranda Shaw in ABC's Quantico as well as in BET's epic show The Book of Negroes. Both of the roles she won critical acclaim as well as a variety of awards and nominations, among them an award from the Television Critics Choice Award for the Best Actress. In 1995, she made her debut in the role of Ariel on stage on stage in The Tempest. The credits on stage comprise Come and Gone Drowning Crow as well as Seeking the Genesis, a Broadway production by Joe Turner.
